Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge (AHTC) was established in 1998 and is classified as a $100,000 ITF+H Women’s circuit tournament, making it the highest ITF ranked tournament in the world for more than five years. It was created Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group and a well-known philanthropist, to encourage the development of Women's Tennis in the United Arab Emirates and to to raise the profile of women’s tennis in general the region.
The tournament quickly established itself on the global tennis circuit and garnered the attention of many female players around the world. The AHTC draws in 80+ players from all over the world, all with International WTA World Ranking. It historically attracts players ranked among the top one hundred players in the world as well as rising junior players. It has seen many top tennis players participate in the event and has kickstarted the careers of several storming juniors.
This mixture of talent and experience has consistently produced a world-class tournament with a unique atmosphere.
To further boost Women’s tennis, Al Habtoor introduced breakout tournaments alongside the Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge, including the Al Habtoor Tennis Cup and the Al Habtoor Women’s 25K.

The 27th edition of the Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge will take place in December 2024.
